5 Best bars for lunch in the center of Valencia
If there is a deep-rooted tradition among Valencians, it is having lunch. It is common to stop at work, between 10 and 12, to have a sandwich accompanied by a cold beer, cocoa and olives to snack on and, to finish, a coffee (or, why not, a cremaet ). Emorzar or lunch is a hallmark: not only is it part of everyday life but it is also something typical of the region and that usually attracts attention outside of Valencia (“At this time?”, “Potatoes inside the sandwich? ”). Lunch is also a gastronomic pleasure that we have missed during these months of confinement. Puerta del Mar Restaurant Valencia
It has been winner of the latest “Premis Cacaud’Or” , which makes a selection of the best bars and sandwiches for lunch. It is located in the center, on Carrer dels Trànsits , which connects Plaza del Astoria street (“Duck Square”) with Las Barcas street. The lunch bar is generous and of high quality, and you can choose the sandwich ingredients to your liking. Our favorite ingredients? Potatoes, fried eggs and chorizo.
The little piece in the middle
Right on one side of the Central Market is this bar, which won the “Cacau d’Or” in 2016. Although the place is small and usually crowded, it is worth going and trying to find a place on the terrace, there is no longer not only for the sandwich but also for the environment. The sandwich par excellence is homemade, roasted loin with aioli.
Central Bar (Central Market)
This Ricard Camarena bar is located inside the Central Market. From the bar counter you can enjoy a lunch that, although it has a slightly higher price than usual, is worth it. Our favorite sandwich is the Mary, cuttlefish with green sauce and aioli.
Alhambra Bar
Located in the Juan Llorens area, this “old-fashioned bar” is famous for having the best potato omelette in Valencia. It also has a variety of tortillas of all kinds, which they bring out at the bar as Benito Bazán, the creator of the tortillas, prepares them. Although it is usually very busy, it is highly recommended.
